Like
many keen exhibitors and breeders I started off with a pet collie,
Angus, who was not a show dog but started my keen interest in this
beautiful breed. As the children got older they often asked for a
dog and finally in 2003 we purchased Poppy (Karibuni Black Pearl
at Uffspring) both as a family pet and a show dog. A few months
later Maisie arrived (Carristina Yuletide Glitta from Uffspring)
and these two became our first show dogs.

Maisie
did particularly well for me in 2004/5, being placed at virtually
all open and championship shows attended and qualifying for Crufts
where she won a 2nd place – at my first ever Crufts! Maisie
has the most beautiful head and expression and both dogs have very
good movement and excellent temperaments – my highest priority.
The girl’s wonderful, easy-going natures have inspired me to
breed and, having just completed building our kennels, this is exactly
what we are now doing.
Gracie
[Carristina Femme Fatale del Uffspring JW] gained her Junior Warrant
at just under 14 months of age. She has done a huge amount of winning
for us including; 1st Junior Leeds Ch Show, 1st Puppy Bitch, 1st Junior
Bitch and PBIB at Richmond Ch. Show and 1st Junior, Special Yearling
& Graduate at Collie Association Ch Show amongst many other firsts
at Ch Shows and Open shows, plus Best Puppy and Best of Breed at Open
shows, as well as several group and puppy group placings. Most of
all she is an all round star, always happy and loves the show ring
- shame she shows it by fidgeting so much.
Yvie
[Carristina Bonne Fille avec Uffspring] also gained her Stud Book
Number at Richmond Ch Show and she to has a good year gaining many
firsts at both Ch Show and Open Shows, along with Best of Breed and
group placings.
We
followed this by mating Yvie to Carriswillow Riot of Samhaven [2CC
& 2 RCC's] son of Ch Samhaven Toastmarster and we have retained
Uffspring Untouchable [Dougal]

and son Dougal - Uffspring Untoucable
Dougal
has had a brilliant start in the show ring - winning 1st Minor Puppy,
Puppy and Novice, BPD & BOPIS at East Anglian Collie Association
Championship Show aged 6 months. He's had many firsts since then, plus
best puppies, BOB and Group placings. What a Star!!! He's also "fun"
to live with - a nice way of putting it - and a great character. He
loves the show ring, enjoying all the attention and has just started
agility which he seems to enjoy as well.

We
look forward to the beginning of 2009 when our new baby, Daisy begins
her show career. At the moment she seems very promising - although
much more interested in playing than standing still and showing off!
She will be in the ring along with her litter mates; Uffspring Unique
Magic at Lekoy [owned by Jane Stevens], Uffspring Utterly in my Soul
over Barrenclough and Uffspring Unchained Melody over Barrenclough[owned
by Dr Lynda Boyle] and Uffspring Unbeatable [owned by Gay Matthews].
- what a litter. We wish all these little potential show boys and
girls every success in the ring and look forward to seeing how they
get on.
Poppy,
Maisie, Yvie, Gracie and now Dougal are all training for agility which
they love, and we are hoping to compete in agility competitions before
too long as well as the breed shows - when we can find the time! They
are also all bronze or silver KC Good Citizens and some are registered
PAT dogs. This just shows how versatile collies can be.
Although
I have only had collies for a relatively short time and still have
huge amounts to learn I am grateful for all the helpful advice I have
received from numerous collie owners and breeders, particularly Pat
Hutchinson [Karibuni], Christina Evans [Carristins] and Ella Scott
[Sherel]
My
priorities for breeding are temperament, health and soundness; Beauty
is important but comes second only to these. With this in mind Uffspring
collies are hip and eye tested and puppies from the kennel will be
eye tested at 7 weeks. All litters are extensively planned and the
stud dog chosen with great care, aining for excellent show dogs and
superb family pets. Our dogs are beloved family pets and puppies will
be well socialised and brought up in the house with young children
and vacuum cleaners etc,,,
