We are the proud owners of nine Rough Collie..
I fell in love with Rough Collies when I met my husband Ian's collie, Shep. Shep was everything I always dreamed of in a dog.
He was so loving, loyal, full of fun and very cuddly. Shep was also very elegant, faithful and obedient. Ian was ok too!!!!!I have been exceptionally fond of animals from early childhood, I rescued cats, dogs, rabbits and birds whether they wanted
to be rescued or not. Most of the owners knew where to come looking for them.I was very fortunate to have the love of two dogs when I was young. These brilliant dogs were called Lassie, a mix, but mainly black Labrador and Rusty, a mix of Golden Retriever and Labrador. They were both rescued and lived to a ripe old age.
When I first moved into my first home, I knew having a dog would not have been a good idea. Firstly it was a flat and not
on the ground floor, secondly my career took me away from home constantly. I knew I couldn't have a dog..Just as I had done
as a child, I decided to rescue a beautiful cat, I named her Cher. She was a wonderful pet, I adored her and she brought
me so much joy into my life. Knowing she was lonely during the day, when I was at work, I decided to get her a playmate.
I called her Sue-Sue...both cats were beautiful in nature and looks. I had Cher for 17 years and Sue-Sue was with me
for over 18 years.I still think about those cats and dogs and the happiness they brought to me. I have owned 8 cats, seven have lived happy long lives and only one never lived as long as the others, he died aged 10. At the moment I have one cat, Malley, he is fourteen years old and when the weather is good he accompanies Ian and I along with our nine collies on a walk.
As we live in the country we are fortunate to be able to walk from the house to suitable grounds where the dogs and cat can play and walk safely without causing any disturbance. Very surprisingly our cat settled in well with the dogs, even although he had been with us for eight years before the first our our collies, Lady, came to stay. We then acquired Harry, Charlie, Joy, Ruby, Milly, and Eve, our blue merle.
We kept two bitches from Milly's first litter of seven in August 2006, Rosie and Cali and now Belle from Harry and Milly's litter of eight in February 2008.
Our collies bring us so much happiness, we can't believe how lucky we are to have so much fun and joy in our lives...
Showing our dogs is fun but not that important to us, if they don't like the show ring then that's fine, what's important to us is that they are happy and healthy, this is what counts and we love them all dearly...
