Welcome to.......

Our History

I have had dogs around me all my life. My grandfather had Fox Terriers and I worked in a Greyhound Kennels. The kennels consisted of resting dogs and in season bitches and I would go to the track twice or maybe three times each week, but on getting married, I had to leave this work, and life was a little dull. I discussed with Pat, my husband, about getting a dog, my choice would have been a greyhound. But Pat's words 'They are all too thin and boney!' Being from a farming family he had always had a collie dog around the place, being very similar to the Rough Collie but much heavier. So it was settled we would have a Rough Collie..
.
...Our first purchase was a Blue Merle, not knowing anything about the collie, but I understood, that in time she was a good colour, but her head wasn't the best, but at this time, I was looking for a hobby, and I went to a small show. Afterwards, I had learned it was an Open Show for All Breeds. I sat glued to my chair, watching all that was going on, thinking 'I can do this!' All excited I went and found a show most weekends, it was at one of these shows I introduced myself to Shirley Toothill, and over the year she gave me advice willingly.

We then purchased a 4 month old Bitch Topsy Turvy of Aberhill, sired by 'Mr Chips' out of a Winrix bitch, this bitch, was sired by Brettonpark Bobbee Dazzler. I did a fair amount of winning with her, and then the time came to mate her, we decided upon Brettonpark Country Tweed. From this litter we kept Lingwell Ryans Daughter, and Lingwell Ryans Son.

In turn Ryans Daughter was mated to Shellina Mr Sandman at Brettonpark, there were only two males in this litter, and one we retained, which turned out to be Champion Lingwell Pioneer.

Ryans Daughter was then mated again, this time to a tricolour German dog Black Hamilton VD Ruhrstand, this mating produced Lingwell Dreamy Valley and as time went on, we mated her to Clorita Christopher Robin at Sundorne, which produced for me my Champion Lingwell Annies Song. 'Annie' was eventually mated to L.Pioneer from this litter, I kept Lingwell Ranger.

Along the way, I purchased from Thelma Duncan, Brettonpark Anna Lacey at Lingwell, she in turn, was mated to L.Pioneer and her daughter, Lingwell Wild Rose, stayed with us, she then produced me a litter by L.Ranger, from this litter, I kept another male who became Champion Lingwell Lancer.
It can also be said that I bred Pied Piper of Aberhill at Rixown who went to live at the Rixown kennels and then sold to Ann Hassock. He later became a Champion.

'Annie' was then mated to Lancer, and Lingwell Singing Songs (Tammy) was produced.
Tammy was six years old when I decided to mate her to Champion Sandiacre Sacre Bleu, she was not well through her pregnancy, and she would not eat, was very sick, she had five puppies. Three of these faded, and I was left with a Dog and a Bitch, which we retained, Lingwell Lone Piper and Lingwell Love Song, 'Piper' later became a Champion with 5 CC's and 7 RCC's and 'Nancy' has gained 1 CC and 2 RCC's and they are now 9 years old..
The above is just a brief history of the Lingwell's, and maybe if Greyhounds were a bit fatter, and not bony, then I may not have been introduced to the Rough Collie?
