Hi . My name is Dee and like all you collie lovers I fell in love with "Lassie". It all started with reading the book "Lassie Come Home" which I borrowed from my school library and wanted this lovely dog. I'd watch her on TV and read the book over and over again. So I asked my parents if we could get one. But in the 60's pennies were tight and I was told no, sorry but we can't afford to get one. So I went back to my dream of owning lassie, in that dream she's be mine and would go everywhere I went. Yes, she's even meet me from school. But then I'd wake up and nothing!! It was only a dream.

As I grew up my love for the breed grew and by chance I was going to the shops one night and passed a friends house and there in her garden was the most gorgeous looking collie I had ever seen [apart from Lassie of course] so I was talking to her and she told me his name was "King". I thought yes king of a gorgeous breed. I asked her where she had purchased him from and she told me "Bristol's Dogs Home". That was it, I ran straight back to my home, forgetting the shopping, and told my mother. I begged, pleaded, and promised I'd be good if we could go to the home to see if there was another. But again was told no. So I asked my eldest sister to take me. But she said the same, but promised she'd go down there and have a look, which she did. But to my disappointment there wasn't one to be found. Then one day I'd come home from school to be told that there was a surprise waiting for me in a box in the kitchen, I thought, yes, at last I've got my very own Lassie. So I crept into the kitchen, opened up the box and instead of a fluffy puppy, out jumped a cat, and like some children of my age I wasn't happy. The cat wouldn't play, and spat and hissed everytime I went near it, which meant I was not going to like four footed feline, but persevered with her.

I still went to my friends house and at every opportunity I'd ask to take "King" for a walk. Then tragedy struck. I lost my grandfather on the 10th February, my father the 4th March and his brother on the 6th March, in the same year. Although I loved them dearly I was not going to be allowed my Lassie now.

Years went by I grew up, married and had two wonderful daughters and as they were growing up I thought about getting my collie at last, but again I had problems, I had split with my then husband and bought the girls up on my own. Then a few years later I saw an advert in our local "trade it" free ads paper for a Rough Collie. She was 18 months old sable and white. So I rang the telephone number and spoke to her breeder who was Ros MacDonald of the Rossavon affix. She explained that she was still for sale and would I be interested in having her on part breeding terms. I said I would be interested and made an appointment to go and see her on the Saturday. So the day came and it was a terrible stormy day. Thunder and Lightening which I hate with a passion, but nothing other than an earthquake would have stopped me going to see this little girl. We were made welcome and then was shown this little girl and I fell instantly in love with her. She was called "Erin" [Rossavon Toccatto]. 7 months later she came into season and we took her to the stud dog of the breeders choice and 9 weeks later she gave birth to 4 healthy puppies. 1 dog and three bitches. One puppy went to a lady in Tamworth and she came down with Dave and Sue Randall to see the puppies. We got talking and one thing led to another and 18 months after I had 2 puppy bitches from them, one sable and white and one tricolour who I called Mia & Ebony. Ebony we had problems with as she has colitis. But we put her on a special diet which sorted it.

Ebony was mated to Atendus Step by Step and she produced 7 puppies, 2 blue merle and 5 tricolours. We lost one blue merle bitch and a tri bitch and dog as they were born 7 days early but all a good weight. As these two were on breeding terms pups had to be returned to their breeder so Sue and Dave chose the remaining blue bitch [Ladnar Maid Sweet] and a tri dog. Mia was eventually mated to Ladnar Doctor Pepper but missed, mated again, but 2 days before her due date she went into labour and was having problems, so we took her straight to the vets who performed a C section and she had 8 pups but we lost 6 and the two remaining were only 3/4 onzes and not expected to live but as they say, where there's a will there's a way, and 5 weeks later they went to live with Sue and Dave Randall. breeding terms completed.

I had also purchased a sable dog puppy just like King, yes with the widest white blaze you could wish for. I bought him from Geoff and Judy Hodgson of the Salgardon affix. I called him Blaze. [Salgardon Love Grows over Kirikan.. But tragedy struck again, he escaped from my daughter's car after an accident in 2006 and was killed on the motorway. I was absolutely devastated as at last I had my collie I had waited those 40 years for.

I don't show as my girls are pets mostly and live in the house although well bred. I've only had 3 litters in 5 years. My thanks must go to Ros Macdonald for my first little girl, Erin and Sue & Dave Randall for Mia and Ebony. Judy & Geoff Hodgson for my darling Blaze [RIP] Little man. I also have a tri bitch called Kerry who joined us last year and a sable dog called Shadee who came to me from Ireland. Erin and Mia are settled into permanent pet homes and to all the above I send my deepest thanks and appreciation 'cause without them I would not have got my "Lassie Come Home!.
